Incarnation Children’s Center – New York, USA (2010)

Video by Christine Turner 2010.

As part of its mission to empower survivors, Asmi partnered with Incarnation Children’s Center (ICC) in Washington Heights to offer summer drama workshops to its residents. ICC is New York City’s only skilled nursing facility for HIV-positive youth and serves twenty-one children and adolescents whose medical, social and emotional needs are too complex to be provided for in a traditional home setting.

Asmi’s presence at ICC encourages personal growth and self-expression through the arts.  Teaching artists introduced ICC residents to theatrical techniques like improv and Playback, and encouraged them to explore creative writing and storytelling.

Asmi’s partnership with ICC helped to fulfill the facility’s mission of providing an individualized, integrative, therapeutic experience for every child.
