Why It Matters

From devastating earthquakes to heartbreaking civil wars, more than 42 million people around the world have been forced to abandon their homes, lives, and their loved ones due to harrowing crises. In the aftermath, many suffer severe emotional, physical, mental, and sexual trauma.

By partnering with local arts organizations worldwide, Asmi International gives displaced individuals the opportunity to use art and education to move beyond trauma and fear, reclaim their personal identities, and transform their communities.

Our Fundraising Target

Asmi is currently raising $30,000 to support our projects in Liberia and Sudan. We have no overhead or employees. Every dollar raised goes directly toward programming.

- $15,500 will allow two teaching artists and a videographer to travel to Liberia and train members of a community-based NGO to offer drama and literacy workshops.

- $13,000 will allow a second pair of teaching artists and a videographer to travel to Sudan to train a group of self-taught actors to serve as mentors for other local theatre troupes that use street performance as a tool for conflict resolution.

- The remaining funds cover Asmi’s fundraising and administrative costs.
